The first four photos are from my visit to Shark Valley
on 26 February 2002 (which was a Tuesday).
I was at Shark Valley from about 10:45am until 4:35pm. The weather was beautiful. Temperatures in the upper 70's and no wind. I bicycled south and back north on the West Roadway. There were lots of alligators, but not as many as on my last visit on 16 January 2002. And there were lots of birds. I also saw quite a few skinks. |
| This Black-Crowned Night Heron was in a tree along the canal across from the Visitor Center. I took this photo at 10:56 am, shortly after I arrived. When I got back to the north end of the park, around 4:00pm, the bird was still in the same (approximate) location. |

I photographed several alligators including this juvenile at about 11:15am. |
| I saw several skinks. Skinks are common in south Florida, but difficult to photograph. This one was along the footpath at the south end. I took the photo at about 1:47pm. |

The Brown Water Snake was also at the south end of the park. I saw two Brown
Water Snakes and one Florida Banded Water Snake on this visit. This photo was taken about 1:24pm. The blue, opaque eyes indicate that the snake is about to shed its skin. |

View north from the observation tower. 2 Oct 2001. The West Roadway is seen going straight north, the East Roadway is visible in the upper right. There are no people in the photo. Very often, when I bicycle down to the south end, between tour buses I am there by myself. |
