Florida and Georgia
 Snake and Lizard Photos
       plus some other stuff

This website contains photos of snakes and lizards which I took in Florida and Georgia. And some other stuff.

I moved to south Florida in July 2000 after having lived mainly in Chicago. I was fascinated by all the wildlife, so I took lots of photos, identified the species using field guides, and developed this website. Many photos are from Everglades National Park or Big Cypress Swamp.

In June 2003 I moved to south Georgia and have been finding and photographing a few new species of snakes and lizards.

Most photos were taken with a Pentax Spotmatic II.
All the photos were taken by me.
All creatures in the photos are alive, wild and not restrained.

History of Me

I've been told that many people are coming to this site looking for removal services for problem snakes. This isn't the right place.

Try one of these:

FLICKR

FLICKR is a website (owned by Yahoo!) which allows everybody to upload photos free of charge. The photos can be inserted into various "groups".

I have started a group for photos of snakes found in the eastern USA or in eastern Canada.

If you have photos, please sign-up for FLICKR. Upload your photos. Join my group. Send the snake photos into my group.

Help promote snake appreciation by uploading some photos.
Thanks

If you don't have any snake photos. Please jump over to my FLICKR group and look at a few of the photos that people have uploaded. The number of times that a photo is viewed is counted and displayed. If people have gone to the trouble of putting photos into my group, I would like to see them get a lot of views.

More FLICKR Groups

e-mail

My e-mail address is:

tspinker@hotmail.com

I appreciate the comments I receive about the website. I try to answer questions, but I am not an authority on snakes and lizards. I only photograph the creatures that I find and try to identify them. I am more a tourist than a herpetologist.

If you write, please put something meaningful in the subject line so I don't delete it along with all the spam.

If you ask about snakes or lizards, remember to give me an approximate location (like what state you are in).

For snake and lizard care, visit Melissa Kaplan's website:
Caring for your Snake/Lizard

Also:
I do not sell snakes !!
Stop sending me e-mails asking for a price list.

There are a few things back my original site on Geocities.

Old Geocities Site
There is some information and photos of Oaxaca, Mexico and some misc stuff remaining at my original website on Geocities.
This link takes you to Geocities, so be prepared for some irritating ads and the "Done, but with errors" message.

Misc stuff at Bell South
There is nothing significant on my website at BellSouth. Just for the record, I'll put this link to it. My dial-up account includes some disk space. So I have put a few miscellaneous photos over there to try it.

One indispensible item which I buy online from Office Depot and can never find in a store is the Acco Punchless Binder. Click on the Office Depot link and search for Acco Punchless Binder. Maybe buy 6 of them. They will enable you to organize all the loose paper which is cluttering-up your desk.

About the Website

This website was on Geocities from 10 Nov 2000 until 30 May 2002. Geocities provides free space for anyone to build a website and Geocities inserts ads onto each page. This worked fine for a year-and-a-half and it is a great way for people to get started with a website.

By May 2002 the website was receiving more visitors than were allowed at Geocities. So rented some disk space from www.hostway.com and I registered the name www.southalley.com with Network Solutions. (The name "southalley" means "south of Alligator Alley", which is the area I had been exploring.)

Disk space costs $ 182.01 per year. Name registration cost $ 74.97 for three years (thus $ 24.99 per year). So my total yearly cost is $ 207.

I am inserting some ads to offset this cost. Amazon.com pays me a commission on anything purchased by people who follow a link from this website. Usually the commission is 5%. In 2006 my total commissions from Amazon were $ 203.31. So "thank you" to everyone who followed a link and bought something.

I'll bet you didn't know that there is a federal law requiring all websites to have privacy statements.
